OK, not donuts, but close ... cake!

The membership of GLENDA is invited again this year to help out with this event:

Although the official even runs from only 7:00 until 9:00, volunteers are requested from 5:00 for setup until 9:30 for cleanup. There area all sorts of volunteer activities, from decorating the site to taking tickets to counting ballots to ... well, you name it! (It looks like most of the work will be cake cutting and cake serving). Some tasks require as little as 15 minutes, some a couple of hours, but there will be plenty of free time to look around and just maybe ... eat cake.

More info:
Amateur and professional cake bakers are invited to participate in The Midwife Center’s third annual “Let Them Eat Cake!” event on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. Bakers from the Pittsburgh area are invited to submit their signature cakes to be rated by a panel of expert judges. Attendees will have the chance to sample the cakes and register their vote for the "Peoples Choice Award." The Expert Judge and Peoples Choice Award winners will be announced and receive prizes at the end of the evening. [ website:
