Greetings, GLENDA!
We have a new and different project coming up for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, in conjunction with Giant Eagle Stores. The task is a pretty easy one. We will staff a table at a Giant Eagle Store and hand out lists to incoming shoppers indicating the food and related items the Food Bank is most in need of. With luck, the shoppers will buy some of these items and leave them with us after they finish their shopping.
Pretty clever isn’t it? The shoppers are already at a grocery store and then they don’t have to deliver their donations somewhere else!
We will collect the items and pack them in boxes which will be left at the store for pick-up by the Food Bank later.
We were able to secure two separate sessions:
- Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the Giant Eagle Edgewood Towne Center from 10 AM to 2 PM.
- Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the Giant Eagle West View at Route 19 and Center Avenue in West View, from 11 AM to 3 PM.
We are looking for volunteers for each site (you do NOT have to go to BOTH, of course, though you can if you’d like!) Please let me know if you are a YES or a MAYBE for one of these projects (be sure and indicate which one).
There is a special need for the Food Bank at this time of greater economic problems. More people are seeking help from the Food Bank and, in many cases, donations are down for the same economic reasons, so I hope you can attend one of these projects.
Thanks in advance for your help, and Happy Halloween!
