Hello everyone:
GLENDA will once again be helping Global Links package medical supplies for shipment to developing nations around the world. Please join us at the Global Links facility, 4809 Penn Avenue (2nd Floor), Pittsburgh, PA 15224, on Saturday, January 23, 2010 from 10 a.m. until noon.
Although it is unthinkable that we could go to a hospital in this country and not be able to have a life-saving procedure because of a lack of items such as gloves, syringes, or even bandages, that unfortunately is the sad reality in many parts of the world. Global Links works to provide these and other needed items by collecting surplus medical goods from local institutions, repackaging, and shipping them to areas where they are most needed.
PLEASE NOTE: because Global Links can only accomodate 12 volunteers at a time, and because this is one of GLENDA's most popular projects, early registration is important. Also, if for any reason you need to cancel, please contact me as soon as possible. The minimum age for volunteers is 14, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Wear comfortable clothes, be prepared to have fun and work closely with other volunteers, and I'll see you soon!
