GLENDA ANNOUNCES FIFTH ANNUAL “DINING FOR DIVERSITY”

GLENDA's fifth annual Dining for Diversity was held on Saturday, September 15th. 2007 marked a return to the original format with GLENDA members hosting dinners throughout the city and then gathering with their guests and other supporters for a celebratory reception. Nearly 200 people turned out at SPACE Gallery in the Cultural District for a dessert, wine and coffee reception featuring a silent auction with items donated by GLENDA sustainers and local organizations. In keeping with traditions established last year, Dining for Diversity served as a forum to recognize valued GLENDA volunteers and to spotlight one of the many service organizations with whom we partner.

This year, we selected Shepherd Wellness Community as our spotlight partner and beneficiary of silent auction proceeds. 2007 marked the 20th anniversary of the founding of Shepherd Wellness Community, the only AIDS Community Center in Western Pennsylvania. In the early years Shepherd Wellness Community’s mission was helping people die with dignity. They
cared for those infected with the disease and their loved ones. Since then, they have expanded services to include educational programs, wellness classes and family outings. Today Shepherd Wellness Community's mission is helping people to LIVE with dignity.

GLENDA would also like to thank the many hosts, donors and sponsors who made the fifth annual
Dining for Diversity a success.
